Primary Election Chat Etiquette

As the Primaries heat up we need to follow some basic ground rules in the chat.

1) Be Nice. We all want what's best for the country and despite our differences of opinion we're all working toward the same goal.

2) No ad hominem attacks. If you have a disagreement with a fellow chatter and/or candidate please keep it civil and factually based. Be willing to provide sources.

3) Remember that we need to pull together after the primaries to keep the rapeublicans out of office across the ballot.

4) If you feel these guidelines are too restrictive, remember there's plenty of other places across the internet you can spout invective, but this ain't it ;}

5) If you have an issue with a staff member or guest of the show or the topic being discussed please remember your radio/computer/Roku/whatever machine has both a volume/mute button and a power switch. Most of the staff/guests also have Twitter accounts where you can let your views be known. Unfortunately none of them join us, so railing against them in the chat won't do much to change things ;}

6) and above all, remember the lesson of this

New Chat Home!

http://smshow.chatango.com/

a couple of pointers on using chatango-

if you have an account with another chatango site like TUTN with Kenny Pick use that to log in. otherwise create an account, that will give you options as far as font size, colour etc. if it says "name already in use" you may have an account you've forgotten about so ask them to reset your password

once you're in, if you could change your font size to 14 (lower right corner, either the number or the A to the left of the smiley. you need to be logged in to chatango, not a guest) it makes reading the chat easier

you can get extra emoticons, font options and backgrounds if you contribute to chatango, starting at US$1.50 a month

the clicking sound when someone posts can be turned off by clicking the speaker icon at the bottom of the screen

general chatroom etiquette applies- no shouting (all caps*,) no personal insults, be nice. if you think there's a troll please alert one of the main mods (me, RadioGuyChris, SueInRockville, RockyMountainMike)

*caps can be used once or twice per post, but will be deleted if more than that or if the post is all caps

from the official http://www.stephaniemiller.com/faq/live-blog-faq/ chat rules:

Because a diversity of opinions are encouraged, we never censor comments based on political beliefs. Of course, we want an open exchange of ideas so the only postings that would be removed are those which contain:
• abusive, off-topic, or use foul language
• comments that celebrate the death or illness of any person, public figure or otherwise
• contain racist, sexist, homophobic and other slurs (including religious)
• solicitations or advertising for personal blogs and website

also, insulting the trans or intersexed members of our community by comparing them to the Coultergeist will not be tolerated

just click on the Free Speech TV Live link to get connected.

archived shows are at http://www.ustream.tv/stephaniemiller.

why is that ustream link showing old content?

clear channel (owned by bain capital) hired Susan Rice to feed the hamster that ran the SMS wi-fi connection. need we say more?

will we be able to see the final "Pants-Free Friday" in the old studio?

lawyers retained by the guy who owns the show that's trying to kill her for the life insurance money have issued this statement  http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zUQgthIs7pM

please, talk me off the ledge

if you were able to watch the ustream video feed in the past you should have no problems starting January 2014 when Stephanie will be on FSTV, you can watch on your computer machine  https://www.freespeech.org/

FSTV is available on both Dish and DirecTV satellite systems and some other cable providers https://www.freespeech.org/affiliates

you'll need a broadband internet connection and either a standard or a wifi router (depending on the type of ROKU)
they will also play Netflix, Hulu and other streaming video services
prices start around $50
